A serious Chardonnay with aromas of buttered toast and crème brulee.
Choose this if you love the honey, buttery flavours of a wooded wine with rich undertones.
Excellent served with rich chicken dishes, well-matured cheeses or a mild fish curry.
The grapes are sourced from vineyards in the Stellenbosch area. The fruit was handpicked at its full ripeness in the third week of February 2012 and fermented in 300-litre French oak barrels. The wine was kept on the primary lees for eight months and batonage, whereafter it was racked from primary lees and returned to the same 300-litre French oak barrels for another five month ageing period (80% barrels were first fill and 20% were second fill). Barrel selection was done in order to select only the best barrels. Lightly filtered before bottling.
Pale gold with hints of green. Voluptuous body with aromas of buttered toast and crème brulee. Firm structure with a mélange of citrus, treacle toffee, melon and a hint of ginger. The finish is seamless and lingers long after the last drop.
Ready to be enjoyed now with a maturation potential of three years.
